Steve Jobs

This year the co-founder of Apple, who was also the CEO during Apple’s most successful period, died in 2011 from pancreatic cancer. His innovation turned Apple into, for a short period of time, the world’s richest company. The iPod has dominated the MP3 market since its initial release, and still does today. The iPhone has revolutionised the smart phone era. One of Steve’s most unique and valuable talents was to know what consumers wanted before they actually did, the classic example being the iPad.

The big question is what will Apple do now? The iPhone 5 is being released this year, if it’s a success then Apple will continue being the best at what it does. If it fails, some feel that it will mark the end of Apple as we know it and take a similar turn to Microsoft which lost its edge when Bill Gates took a backseat in the company.

With the major challenge of Google Android and other smart phones, will 2012 break Apple? We’ll have to wait and see.

  1. With the iPad 3 coming in March, the iPhone 5 later this year, and not to forget the new Apple TV, i think 2012 will be another year of success for Apple. The question is if they can keep this up in the future now Steve Jobs is gone. Let's hope for the best! RIP Steve <3
