The Royal Wedding

Contrary to what I’ve been posting there was some happy news in 2011! The Royal Wedding attracted an estimated audience of 2 billion people. It was a national holiday in the UK and it gave the British a reason to celebrate and throw a world class party. The Americans have always had a strange relationship with the British monarchy, although they are completely republican (not the party but the political system) they really love the monarchy in the UK. Especially the Royal Weddings, with people gathering in town squares to watch the pictures being broadcast from Westminster Cathedral in London.

The future of the monarchy is in peril, with anti-monarchists growing in numbers it may not last to the next century. Jamaica will likely become a Republic in 2012 and Australia will probably be next, yet with the fresh face of Catherine Middleton in the mix, will she allow the monarchy to continue?
